What is the Twverify scam?

Recently a new scam has been getting popular across the globe, in which fraud hacks authorized profiles. This scam is disclosed by the Facebook parent company Meta. In the scam, the scammer steals the verified account of those with a blue tick in their username. Then he steals all the personal information of the users and later on account details or money.

In the Twverify scam, there is a possibility that the fake user shared links on series or links on their verified account and asked the folk to click or share. Once you click the link, they steal all your important information, including account details, verification codes, and security passwords.

Why is this scam getting popular?

The parent company of Facebook, Meta, used to provide a Blue tick to all the authentic users, just like Twitter and Instagram. According to people’s physiology, Blue Tick on the username is a symbol of the legitimacy of the profile, so it is easier for the scam to trap the people in their deception.

Though Blue Tick signifies the authenticity of the profile, Meta still uses the old verification method; therefore, the Twverify scam is getting popular across the globe. However, if Meta changes its policy of verification, then it would be easier to stop this scam. Still, with the same verification policy, it is hard to prevent fraud right now.

Besides this, the scammer also creates fake accounts with the Blue Tick, making it hard for the user to differentiate between fake and original accounts. The scam scammer even creates thousands of followers with Blue Tick. Thus, people are easily scammed by these fake profiles or scams.

Who is the target of this scammer in the Twverify scam?

According to the reports, celebrity profiles are this scammer’s chief target. There are many cases in which it is seen that this scammer changes the username but has millions of followers with the Blue Tick as a sign of an authentic profile. However, this profile also has the same Google ad and advertisement on the page.

In 2012, a page name “Fans of Miss Pooja” was started, and the same page was renamed twice in 2013 as Miss Pooja. This username was also changed with the Google AI, and even the page URL has been changed to “”.

The same thing was repeated with another page named Babbu Maan, also a Twverify scam case. This page has 3 million followers on the page. The page is running even fake Google accounts. Thus, it is hard for the users to recognize whether this page is fake or real.

What is Meta saying about this scam?

According to the sources, a Meta spokesperson spends resources and time preventing such scams. They noted that scammer always finds their way to hack every new programming and function even though they are working seriously on this scam issue.

They assured us their team is working hard to eliminate this scam with advanced security and safety features.
